Dresden in the german state of Saxony!

For years going on now Dresden has a very active tango scene. Not only there are a couple of regular milongas going on at different days of the week but this town also is the home of one of the best european young generation tango orchestras: "Sextetto Tango Andorinha"!

To start with I'll show you some photographs of different milongas in Dresden. Later I will add some photographs of "Sextetto Tango Andorinha" in the musicians section of this site. Enjoy!

Let me start with a series of the place where Dresden tango reached is first high: "Gare de la lune"! A beautiful old ballroom just on the edge of the river "Elbe" in fabulous countryside at the ouskirts of the town.

If now you're interested to check out "Gare de la lune" yourself: Klaus Roebenack currently maintains the most actual website devoted to Dresden tango. Have a look at Klaus' site. Other website concerning tango in Dresden are Giovannis site (some tango pics) and Erics site (allthough outdated). "Gare de la lune" now also has it's own website, featuring not only picture of the ballhouse itself but also of the terrible flood which threatend the Dresden area in august 2002. During that flood the high waters of the river Elbe just stood something like 20 cm below the wooden floor of the big dancing hall.
